WORM QUARTET UPDATE AND BLATANT PLUG - 05/19/2012

Okay, after entirely too much silence and entirely too many updates without much going on, here's the big'un, folks!

First off:

NEW WORM QUARTET ALBUM KICKSTARTER NEWS
That's right, dammit!  The new album will be out in June, and it looks like I'm actually going to be able to meet this date, unlike all the other dates I've heartily promised and then completely failed to meet!

This time out, in lieu of the typical preorders I tend to do for these things, I'm doing what the cool kids do and doing a Kickstarter! Rewards for contributors include copies of the new CD, bonus discs, bonus DVDs, and a bitchin' handmade USB flash drive embedded in an Atari 2600 cartridge casing, loaded with the entire Worm Quartet discography!

I hit my initial goal of $1300 within twenty-four hours of my Kickstarter going live because you guys are awesome. I've announced a stretch goal of $2600 to make some enhancements (well, okay, ONE enhancement) to my live show, and there's still plenty of prizes to be had!

You can check out my Kickstarter (and the video I made for it, which took entirely too much time) at http://kck.st/L3RPsj

And as long as you're clicking links...

WORM QUARTET WEBSITE REDESIGN NEWS
I recently launched the brand-spankin'-new wormquartet.com! The new website is designed by Devo Spice, and now looks a hell of a lot less like it was made in 1994. FRAME-FREE, people.  Has tour dates, history, an updated store, a music player, and more! Check it: http://www.wormquartet.com

WORM QUARTET ACTUALLY HAS MULTIPLE SHOWS SCHEDULED NEWS
Ohhhh man, I get to share a stage with Dr. Demento, and then I get to share a stage with the Flashing Astonishers!  It's 2004 all over again, only with more gray hairs!

NEW COLLABORATION WITH DEVO SPICE NEWS
Recently, Scooter Picnic released a song of mistaken identity, inspired by an offhand comment made by Devo Spice, entitled "Kyle are you Ian?"  Uponhearing this catchy, goofy little bit of glee, I immediately contacted Devo Spice and suggested that - while I'm normally vehemently opposed to doing parodies - we should totally do a take-off of this song, since to a large degree we really do have the same lives.

The result (which Dr. Demento has already played, yaaaay!) was completed within mere days, and can be heard at http://thefump.com/fump.php?id=1540

( The original Scooter Picnic tune is at http://thefump.com/fump.php?id=1528 )

NEW CIRQUE DU SO WHAT ALBUM NEWS
Oh, right. I haven't sent one of these things out in a longass time, and thus pretty much COMPLETELY neglected to mention that my sketch comedy project with Devo Spice, Luke Ski, and Chris Mezzolesta now has a THIRD friggin' CD out, loaded with profanity, inside jokes, and sketches that go entirely too long with no real payoff! Cirque du So What's latest offering, "Stupid Cowboy Thing, Vol. 2 - Additional Squid" can be ordered from http://thefump.com/store_release.php?id=98

My favorite track from the new album, the brilliant Luke-Ski-penned "Let's Do Improv," is available for free on The FuMP:  http://thefump.com/fump.php?id=1525

As is another teaser track, "How to Speak Shoebox" at http://thefump.com/fump.php?id=1538

ODOR NEWS
A funded Kickstarter campaign within 24 hours. A new album on the horizon.  Upcoming shows with Dr. Demento and the Flashing Astonishers. Yeah. I  smell like gratitude, excitement, and anticipation.

...Which it turns out smells a lot like Downy and onions, because I've spent most of the morning doing laundry and I just ate a salad.

That enough for you? Feel free to drop me a note, comment on my Kickstarter, follow me on Facebook ( http://www.facebook.com/wormquartet ) and Twitter ( @WormQuartet ) or otherwise interact with me if you're not terrified of long-haired software engineers who sing about vasectomies, soap, love, and robots.

Thank you for continuing to acknowledge my existence! You guys remain disturbingly awesome.

De-swallowing the antitoaster of semi-infinite non-floppiness,

Worm Quartet "Songs of the Maniacs" Kickstarter is UP!
...Wow, I remembered my LiveJournal password!

Hi, guys!  Been a while!  How's it going?  How's the family?  ...She did WHAT?!?   Ah, well, a little bleach and some antibiotics should take care of that.

Anyway, the new Worm Quartet CD "Songs of the Maniacs" is approaching completion, and I'm doing what the cool kids do and doing a Kickstarter for it, so you can throw money at me to help cover the cost of making this glorious wad 'o' noise enter the world!  It'd probably be completely done by now if I hadn't put so much stinkin' time into the video on the Kickstarter page, so I hope you enjoy it!

Clicky clicky!

NEW WORM QUARTET ALBUM NEWS
"Songs of the Maniacs," the first Worm Quartet album since friggin' 2007,
is almost done. There will be a couple of very interesting announcements
regarding this in the very very near future.

I recently put a new track from this album up for free streaming on The
FuMP! It's called "A Song For Worm Quartet To Sing With TV's Kyle" and,
strangely, features TV's Kyle.

Here: http://thefump.com/fump.php?id=1491

ODOR NEWS
I'm currently fighting a nasty-ass cold, so I'm not entirely sure what I
smell like. But as I'm in the midst of fixing Atari controllers with my
son, I probably smell like thirtysomething-year-old joystick interiors.

That's it for now - there's gonna be a lot more exciting stuff coming soon
to these parts, so stay tuned, dammit! Thanks as always for giving a crap
about these stupid words I type and the stupid words I sing!

See some of you in Ithaca!

That will change very soon!

WORM QUARTET UPDATE AND BLATANT PLUG - 08/08/2011
Holy crap, Worm Quartet still exists?!??

Indeed it do! Hi! How've you been? I suck at sending these things out
with any manner of regularity, but you can follow me on Twitter
( http://www.twitter.com/wormquartet ) or check out the Worm Quartet
facebook page ( http://www.facebook.com/wormquartet )

Got a handful of things to let you know about! Most urgently:

NEW CIRQUE DU SO WHAT ALBUM PREORDER NEWS
Cirque du So What, the sketch comedy project featuring myself, Luke Ski,
Devo Spice, and Chris Mezzolesta (of Power Salad,) has just completed
their newest album "Stupid Cowboy Thing, Volume 1: Grandmother!" It's
available for pre-order over at http://www.cirquedusowhat.net

Dr. Demento played a couple of our new tracks on his show this past
weekend, and described the album as "audacious and amazing."

All pre-orders come with an immediate digital download of the album,
plus a 40-minute bonus disc!

Hurry the hell up if you want the bonus thingy - pre-orders will only be
taken until the CDs arrive at FIDIM Records, which is gonna be in the
next few days!

Check out a free track from the album, "Staying Fat," at
http://thefump.com/fump.php?id=1449

Speaking of The FuMP...

I TOTALLY SHOULD'VE SENT OUT AN E-MAIL ABOUT THIS BACK IN APRIL NEWS
Yeah, I released a new version of "Vampire Penguins" in April, and I'm
just telling you about it now! I also forgot your birthday AND our
anniversary! Marvel at my failure! MARVEL AT IT!!!

Stream (for free) or download (for 99 cents) at http://thefump.com/fump.php?id=1405.

On a related note:

I TOTALLY SHOULD'VE SENT OUT AN E-MAIL ABOUT THIS BACK IN JUNE NEWS
Worm Quartet appears on the new Weird Al tribute album "Twenty-Six
and a Half," with a keytar-heavy rendition of "I'll Be Mellow When
I'm Dead!" Other artists on the comp include MC Lars, MC Frontalot,
MC Chris, Luke Ski, Dino-Mike, Devo Spice, TV's Kyle, and Al's Band,
among others! You can order a copy here:

http://weirdaltribute.com/

And of course on iTunes and whatever.

WORM QUARTET RUNS A DAMNED CON MUSIC TRACK NEWS
Dammit, looks like I'm running the music track for Con on the Cob again!

October 13-16, 2011 - Hudson, OH

@ Clarion Hotel & Conference Center
240 East Hines Hills Road
Hudson, Ohio 44236

Info and pre-registration at http://www.cononthecob.com

Come on out, dammit! It'll be a great time!

More shows will be announced eventually...I'm mostly laying low lately
and working on new stuff! Yes, really!

HAVE YOU FRIGGIN' CHECKED OUT MY WEBCOMIC YET NEWS
If you like hearing from me more often than just every few months, or if
you just enjoy my sense of humor and wonder how it might apply to a
webcomic whose art is stolen from royalty-free clip art collections, then
maybe you should consider checking out PartiallyClips, dammit!

Rob Balder started this comic a gajillion years ago, and decided last year
to hand the reigns over to ME so he can concentrate more fully on Erfworld!
I'm updating every Tuesday and Friday (...-ish,) and you can check it out
over yonder at: http://www.partiallyclips.com

ODOR NEWS
I just had an unplanned water fight with my six-year-old, so I smell like
a wet Descendents shirt with a tinge of grass and rubber hose interior.

That's it out of me! Hope you guys are doing well...you'll hear from me
again, I swear! Exclamation points!

Clever signoff phrase,

MarsCon 2011
Really not up to doing a con report, so I'll just say ELKLOADS of thanks to everyone who helped make this con happen, everyone who helped get me there, and everyone who showed up to my show.

The show looked something like this, only in 3-D (thanks to MrTuesday for taping the whole damned thing!)

Before and after pics, as requested
MarsCon, March 2010 (photo by Baron Dave Romm) :

My guest room, earlier today (photo by Mrs. Shoebox) :

As you can see, I converted my lost fat into a keytar and a Jack Skellington head.

As of Sunday I'm about 12 pounds away from my goal.  And while I miss my tuba-playing ninja shirt, which no longer fits me, I sweat a lot less in my newer shirts.

2011, dammit.
Hi, LiveJournal. Long time no see.

Let's see how we did on our New Year's Resolution for 2010!

Shoebox in January of 2010:
- 302 pounds
- 3XL shirts
- 40x34 jeans

Shoebox in January of 2011:
- 216 pounds
- L / XL shirts
- 31x34 jeans

Unfortunately, my New Year's resolution was to put out a new Worm Quartet album in 2010, so I am a miserable failure!  YAAAAAAY!

How'd you guys do?
